Hi,

I am planning to have my own website, to be specific a blog and for that I need to have domain registered from a reputable domain registration company.

While surfing, came across Yahoo domain and web hosting.

http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/domains/

Yahoo is charging $ 9.95 for domain registration. Just wondering, how good is Yahoo domain registration service. Shall register domain through yahoo or how about godaddy?

Also, if I am taking domain from Yahoo, will it be advisable to take web hosting from Yahoo also, or I should look at some other web host. Any idea or reccomendation where I can find a good web host.

In the meantime, I have to think about a nice domain name also. Rolling Eyes

I will write more thoughts about my blog later.

Thanks!

Hi Solitare,

Great to hear that you are planning to start off your own blog and have your own site hosted. Smile

There are plenty of good web hosts that you can look for. From my personal experience I
can suggest you to have a look at www.palhost.com. This is where we are hosting our own site and we are happy with their hosting services.

As far as domain registration goes, you can look godaddy.com, it is a good service provider. Yahoo have recently entered into the domain registration and web hosting business and they are new in service.

I would suggest you to have your domain and web hosting through different service providers.

Do get back with your ideas and hosting decisions and share your blog with people out here...

I registered my domain name from www.namecheap.com and i got the hosting from www.mesopia.com

I've seen a lot of hosting websites but you reaaly need one that guarantees you 99.9% uptime. I've found mesopia to be really reliable and its pretty cheap compared to others too.

You can opt for the basic linux package, which offers you 200MB of space, unlimted add-on domains, unlimtied sub-domains, unlimited email accounts etc etc.

For the domain registration, i doubt if it'll make a difference if you get it registered from any Indian hosting company or namecheap or yahoo. Yeah the price does diff.
NameCheap offers domain registration for $8.5 annualy.

Hope that helps !!!
