Hi all!

The parliamentary election results in India are pouring in and in a few hours the people's mandate will be crystal clear. The India Shining Campaign has boomeranged for BJP and it is almost certain that Atal Behari Vajpayee will resign today. What is more intruging is the fact that Congress has come out with flying colors. In Andhra Pradesh, the tech-savvy Chandrababu Naidu has been defeated. Does all this indicate that there has to be a balance of good politics, regard for the poor along with the focus on economic reforms for winning votes and winning hearts too. And yes too much criticism about the foreign origin issue of Congress President Sonia Gandhi has also not helped BJP.

What is your gutfeel? Do participate in the poll and post in your personal views about the most important issue at the moment for the nation.

Regards

Hi ppl,
What a climax for the drama called elections. Its simply out of a thriller film, which had a "kahani main twist" at the end, and took the cinegoers by surprise.
But it looks like the format of some movies played abroad, where spectators can change the end, or the scene as they want by voting.
N so it is, the spectators knew evrythg but just for the fun of the ppl outside the cineplex, the scene was nothing short of a storm.

The verdict is along the same lines, even Congress might not have thot tht this wud turn out 2 b so overwhelming. But Sonia's fate had other things 2 show.

So,the party with the "feel-good" has lost, n the "aam-aadmi ka haath " made it.
It will take some time to find out the reasons, n the analysis will go into months, if not yrs.

There are many reasons to it, No1 can find it all, but the need and the desire of change among Indian voter has catapulated India into a new era. Whosoever doesn't perform has to go, and also whosoever takes the voters for granted has to bite the dust.

But one thing that struck out is tht the India's media industry is at a nadir, it has got nothing to offer except newsbites, or sensational local news.
It has got no opinions of its own, no views, and has no idea of wht it is saying. All the exit polls have gone bust, its like failing to deliver in one's profession.

So, wht is the solution. To hire psychologists to gauge the mind of the electorate, to strengthen grass-root level work etc. etc.
My solution is to work well for all of 5 yrs., sincerely.
I think this result bodes good for the country, but the only apprehension i have is regarding the Left, wht kinda role they will play in policy-making, economic or otherwise.

BJP shud try to find out where it went wrong, do sincere work in the coming years, n act as a constructive opposition. Its like making a head-start if they want to win the next-world cup(read elections).

The politicians now cannot take ppl for granted and have to be on their toes for the whole 5 yrs,if they hope to come back again.

Nothing short of a democratic revolution.
Gr8 show.

What happened was indeed stunning...and now after the drama Manmohan Singh is going to be our Prime Minister. It seems that Sonia Gandhi killed two birds with one arrow. Cool

I agree that if BJP needs to take some corrective measures to gain its lost image.

Having said that, i also feel that for Congress the road is not as smooth as it seems. It has to prove its worth. The task is tough for Dr. Manmohan Singh because 'Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown' Wink

Any more gut feel...
