This is first time in Bollywood history when an actor has lent voice to an 'animated' film.
Monday, November 22, 2004: (Mumbai):
Shah Rukh Khan is the voice for Mr Lajawab, the lead character of the Indian version of The Incredibles, Hollywood's animated smash hit.
Indian distributors at a press conference described it as a coup of sorts.
While the practise is common in Hollywood, it is the first time in Bollywood history that top stars are doing voice overs for animated characters.
"It is difficult as it is new for us, hope something positive comes out of this," said Shah Rukh.
The film, which tells the story of a family of former super heroes who have retired to the suburbs has been a huge hit in the US and has voiceovers by stars like Holly Hunter and Samuel Jackson.
The Indian version called Hum hain lajawab also has voiceovers by Rakshanda Khan, Javed Jaffery and Shah Rukh's son Aryaan.
"Apart from my son two other kids have given their voice for some of the characters. I am happy that my son is working hard and spending time in dubbing studios," said the actor.
Both the Hindi and English versions hit cinemas across the country on December 17, the same day as Shah Rukh Khan's swades. |
