Microsoft has successfully launched the SP2 (Service Pack 2) for Win XP, but looks like people are quite scared to implement it. It seems pretty funny to me as to why people would be scared to implement a service pack.
Acc to some recent survey of IT managers, 62% were scared to implement it. IT people working in call centres have estimated a super increase in their inbound calls once people start installing SP2.
I yet havent installed SP2, but i fail to understand why people are scared and what could possibly go wrong!! Any views? |

RF,
I fail to understand why IT managers who have been using Windows ever ever ever are getting scared of SP2. Coz as far as i know, Sp2 is only a security upgrade. I guess i'll have to wait till i hear more from friends/the internet. |

Hi Garcons,
There are some probllems with sp2, buggers hv come out with sthg u don't require.
After you install Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), some programs may seem not to work. By default, Windows Firewall is enabled and blocks unsolicited connections to your computer.
client applications may not successfully receive data from a server. Alternatively, server applications that are running on a Windows XP SP2-based computer may not respond to client requests.
These r some of the reasons ppl r scared of,
but as always these can b corrected,
but who wants 2 get into unnecessary trouble!!! |

| Thanx Anshul for the info. I had heard that once you install SP2, some apps may not work, but i didnt really believe it. I guess i'll have to find the real deal after installing SP2 myself. |

Windows Xp SP2 is an upgrade which is being watched out for its advanced security features like safe email handling, more secure internet browsing, improved network protection and so on.
I have not read that some programs don't work on SP2. Will watch out this space for more realted info. |
