Hi everyone,
I am new on the board!
To start with, i need to ask you guys about Google's Gmail account. Besides offering enormous storage space and other features one condition is that you must be referred by someone...do you it is fair enough? |

Hi ppl,
Gmail by Google is a revolutionary concept that is going to redefine how mailing is done around the world.
Having a mail account where you don't have to worry about space is like drawing water from an ocean. 1 GB is quite a no., man.
And about the reference issue, its fine. One cannot dole out such space to ppl who create account and forget, or use accounts only for chat, spam etc.
I am ignorant of how will they make money out of this. But surely this will bring Google to altogether new league.
Yesterday itself we saw Yahoo taking a knee-jerk reaction by offering 100MB to its users.
But who will win in this war of oneupmanship, time will decide.
But till then, its a win-win situation for us.
Just mail it, read it and forget it.
That will b the punchline henceforth.

The launch of Gmail is a revolutionary concept. I have the priveldge of having one courtsy a friend. Apart from the huge space, i love the way one can post quick replies...very user-friendly. The competitor Yahoo was also forced to increase the space of yahoo account to 100 Mb as a result of Gmail launch.
I agree with Anshul that it is a win-win situation for the customers.

| Rediff.com has announced that it will provide 1 GB space to its free users and 2 GB to premium ones. It has become the first Indian email provider to do so. After Google and yahoo, rediff has entered the competition and followed suit. Time will tell which of the services will stand out. |

Of course the fight for mails will last long, but i feel Gmail will have an edge.
I have an account with it, and the features and interface is cool, not flashy, looks more serious and objective.
The reason why i feel so is because Gmail is being launched with a purpose in mind.
It actually want to observe behavioral, spending, contemprary ideas and patterns of people who matter, and who r going to b the future customers, vis-a-vis anything.
Others have just come up with a knee-jerk reaction.
Storage space has come down to such an extent over an years that maintaining a small account costed Yahoo just 2 cents.
So, this revision was to take place sooner or later.
Only time will tell who wins, but my gutfeel says Gmail may just outperform others. |

I have a GMail account.
Google at the moment is only offering GMail as part of a preview release and limited test. At present there are no details of when GMail will be made more widely available.
As the way is paved for more accounts Google periodically allows members to invite others to join.
I guess that because it is still in preview mode is the reason that it is not yet available for all to sign up.
However all is not perfect with the account as can be seen by the article below:
