Will .in establish national identity on the web?

The government of India has formalized the .in domain name for Indian entities, which is supposed to go a long way in keeping the Internet traffic within India.

The aim is to make the registration faster and to emphasize the global dominance of India in the IT field.

At the same time it can also be argued that the world wide web is a global platform and there are other factors like the company's products and services, branding, customer focus, and also the look and feel and the usability of the site itself besides the nationalized domain name which makes the website sell. If we consider two companies, one which is doing very well and the other which is having a hard time, what value addition can a .in domain make to their sites?
