|
|
As the posts in this section are picking up, its time to define some rules. The basic rules of gutfeel.com still applies to all, which can be found on this thread.
This section wouldn't have any special rules, but since we all use Computers & the Internet, I'm sure we all can actively participate in this section. I wouldn't restrict this section to only plain discussion, it could also be used as a platform for members to know more about computing.
If you are confused about something related to the Internet or Computers in general, you can post it here, and members who have experience in the area can help you understand it better. We would like to control any heated arguments you might have by not agreeing with each other, and the best way to resolve this is by giving the other person an explanation of your answer and by not criticizing his/her point of view. Any member found to break these rules will be given a warning and on further mistakes, might have his/her own account de-activated and the thread closed. If other member wishes to continue discussing on the same topic, they can let me know, and we will only delete some inappropriate posts and leave the thread open.
Hope you all abide by these rules so as to make this section an interesting and happening place.
Edit: 02- September' 2004
I often see members posting just an entire article, and mentioning the source from where it has been picked. We'd really encourage if you write the whole posts in your own words, and write what you feel about it, and ofcourse, you could give the link to the original article.

nice 2 find some rules and regulation, i.e. some organized way of talk.
but i wud like 2 comment on one aspect:
tht ppl shud b allowed to crtitize a point of view , n not the person..
Counterarguments r necessary for ne debate,
otherwise just putting my point of view without saying y the other is wrong, will amount to a less healthy n fruitful discussion.
wht say u? |

Anshul,
Honestly, I'd prefer the same kinda approach you're talkin about. An argument is NOT an argument until its a little heated, but as the Gutfeel rules say "We cant critize some one else's view" But i guess the final decision is yet on the Editor who happens to be the admin. So we'll wait for her to comment.
Lemme know if I could be of any more help. |

My 2 cents: It should be debate rather argument on any thing.
All the best and keep going. |

I feel thats what Anshul's point was RF. Basically the freedom to debate with each other, and tell the other person if you think he/she is wrong.
Would "argument" be a wrong word? **scratched head** |

We are here for some healthy discussions and debate which might definitely involve some heated arguments as pointed above, but i would say that the bottomline should be not to get personal and hurt the feelings of the other member. Listen to what others have to say and then try to add your own view stating the reason for agreement or disagreement with the other member.
Regarding quoting the whole article as such, garcons, we cannot stop members from doing that but yes i liked your idea that we should write it in our own words. We will definitely encourage that keeping in mind the objective of this site which is to express your own views.
In addition, we might take 'strict' actions against those who just copy-paste the article from other places not even bothering to mention the source or faking it as their own.
Thanks,
Charu |
