Hey Anshul, it is not the question of having a split personality or double standards if you mean to say that....what is implied here that a person should be able to take decisions based on his free will and what is most suitable for him/her without hurting the feelings of others.

And this behaviour can't be compartmentalized as you say....selfish a work place and selfless with your close relatives and friends...again you will be sacrifying in your relationships and being manipulative at work which will not help you in the long run. the idea is to be assertive in every situation which you face in life.
