I often get the feeling that I should move away from Windows. Infact i have installed Linux a couple of times on my box, but in a couple of days I find myself switching back to Windows. Maybe thats coz i dont give it enough time to set in and move back to Win very soon.
People who have been using Linux in a long time cant even think of getting back to Windows. They so prefer that O/S that they keep recommending it to other Windows users.
Which O/S do you use and why?

| I have opted for Windows, becoz whatever criticism it may get, it is still the easy to use OS. The user is concerned with the user interface and i think windows is best and i have been using it for years. And yes, i use Windows xp. |

I think why most of us are using Windows not because it IS the best but because it is the best marketed among others. I myself use it though I have tried Linux too. But Linux is more popular with the programmers, while Windows is for the layman. But, I feel that with every version or upgrade, Microsoft adds more frills to the version and that is why people find computers difficult to operate.
Thus I have opted for ‘other’ OS which I would prefer over Windows. But right now I have to use it. |

I would prefer the good old Windows more so because this is the only system which i have used.
I can understand that people who use Linux hate Windows but thats it. And i agree with dan that it is the marketing strategy of the Microsoft which has put Windows in a good stead. I think a majority of the population worldwide uses Windows. |

Dan, you really think that most of the users are using Windows only coz of the marketign strategy adopted by MS. I've used Linux, and boy, it sure is difficult. Not everyone would be interested in computers and for an average man, i personally feel Windows is the best & easiest.
For linux, you first have to mount your drives & you cant use your CD rom straight away. I've been using computers in a long time now, but for a person like me to have problems with Linux, I can imagine what people with no experience must be going through.
Since you chose "Other", do you have any other O/S in mind? Have you tried Lindows, a combination of Windows & Linux, or have you used a Mac before. Trust me, Windows is the easiest. Yes people say that Linux is way more stable than Windows, but the next Windows code named the "Longhorn" should would be something to look out for.
RedFlower, Nice to see so many posts related to computers eh? Comon, I'd like to hear from you too. |

i vote for Windows, I think it is the most user friendly OS, & i agree with garcons that because it is so easy its no. 1, Personally i have also used Mac for 6 months, & have tried linux at the uni, but not very extensively. I think Win is the best of all. As far as Mac is concerned , it is far away from Win, i can't say the same for linux but as far as my exp goes its not even close to win. I think it is more difficult for a WIn user to shift on linux or mac rather than linux or mac user to shift to Win
by the way garcons according to me there are more Mac users than linux, so you should have added Mac in the poll.
Anyways WIn rulz |

Windows XPpro for me. It's customisable which is good for me because I abhor the XP interface! Most of all it is an extremely stable OS! I'm not going to say how long it is since I rebooted my machine - I don't want to tempt fate LOL. And besides, it was that long ago, I can barely remember. |

i guess it all depends on what you are using that OS for.
For home, email, media - I definitely go for MS. |
